Family Counseling:
I approach working with families from the lens of "systems theory"- viewing the family as a system that each member participates in and contributes to. I use an active, collaborative, and direct approach to counseling families aimed at exploring dysfunctional patterns and increasing awareness of interactions, triggers, dynamics, and emotional processes within the family system. Ultimately, we will focus on reducing the anxiety and "emotional turmoil" in the "system", improving communication, and decreasing unhealthy triangulation or "fusion" so that individuals within the family are better able to reflect, self-regulate, differentiate, and react more calmly to one another.
